Thank you so much!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make our first sale such a huge success!   We were so excited to have a line of people waiting to get in a half an hour before we opened the doors - even as the rain started to fall!  I am including the few pictures that I took on Saturday after the accessories were pretty picked over.  I will share more as they trickle in.

I so appreciate Whitney Asay of Petuniaz, Sue Hooley of Deep Creek Soap and Tom Heald of Wyoming Plant Company for taking a chance on me.  I had a vision of what the first sale would be but Whitney, Sue and Tom were taking a leap of faith that I could really create it.  Their contributions added the pizazz and depth we were looking for.
Whitney's jewelry was spectacular!
We all felt lucky to model her unique pieces throughout the weekend and look forward to her many new creations since she sold nearly every piece she brought.

Sue's soaps and lotions provided wonderful color and aroma as well as a nice gifts and a way for customers to treat themselves and their skin.
Tom's plants were the icing on the cake. They added life and depth to the sale - not the mention the fantastic scent of lilac from the beautiful lilac tree in corner!

Thanks to Cheri, Amanda and my mom for sharing their creativity.

But most of all....thank you to all our customers who took time out of your busy weekend,  passed the word to your friends and endured the rain.  Your support made our first sale a success and we appreciate it so much.

Thanks to Pheobe - our Japanese Chin who provided some comic relief as we finished up Sunday afternoon!

We are already gearing up for our November sale!  Mark you calendars for November 10, 11 and 12.

See you then!

Last...but never least!

Well it is Friday the 24th of June - the big Grand Opening Day!  We have scrubbed and dusted, touched up paint, arranged and re-arranged and finally we just have to say "enough" and open our doors and let people see what we have accomplished. It is funny - I have gotten attached to some of these creative projects and it is hard to let them go but it is comforting to know they will go to happy homes where they will be appreciated and loved.

It is during these big events in my life that I so appreciate my family for all their love and support.  My husband, besides moving furniture, and moving out of his shop to make space for this endeavor is my go to guy for all things business. My oldest daughter flew home from Alaska and has not stopped running since she got off the plane, my younger daughters have baked, cleaned, stamped and delivered flyers.  My dad has moved furniture, covered furniture for rain, and finished odds and ends jobs.  My mother-in-law has dusted, cleaned and painted and my father-in-law has spread the serendip-i-ty word! Cheri and Amanda have encouraged and shopped with me, offered suggestions and contributed furniture and accessories.  My brother has designed, drawn and painted and generally makes me look good.  Finally, my aunts and uncles and cousins and good friends who will be here with me in person or in spirit , some traveling from out of town for this momentous weekend - thank you all.

But wait....I am missing one very important person who has been an incredible help and just happens to be my fifth and last friend and artisan....my mom, Glenda Pullen.

I wish this picture was clearer but it does a good job of capturing the love she gives freely to my youngest daughter in this picture and to all of us - all the time.

Many years ago my mom told my dad that it was her dream to open a Pier One and run it with me.  Well this is no Pier One and it has taken more than twenty years but today we are working together to open serendip-i-ty!

My mom has instilled in me the the importance of  creating a home that feels comfortable and reflects the style of all who share it. She has always created a home where our family can participate in the preparation of a good meal and feel comfortable inviting our friends, sharing in laughter and feeling pride in our accomplishments.

With her eye for detail she has created many beautiful pieces for this sale that I can't wait for you to see.
Hope to see you all at our Grand Opening tonight from 5-9 and
Saturday 9-5

Sunday 10-2

A very special friend

Just 3 more days until the Grand Opening of serendip-i-ty!

We are thrilled! After years of dreaming and months of preparation all our junkin' and hard work has come together to create a magical space and I can't wait for you to see it!   We are hoping for a great turn out (a little birdie even told me that shoppers are coming from as far as Utah and Colorado!) How exciting!

Many of the accessories you will see are compliments of one of my closest friends (and most special aunt)  Cheri McCurdy.

You're lookin' pretty hot Cher!!

Cheri is the fouth featured friend and artist. (Notice the picture is on Fourth Street? What a coincidence!)

We are long time junkin' buddies from a long line of independent women- scouring the country for fun and funky finds.    Cheri has inspired me to channel my creativity since the days of ...

White knee highs and hippies!

She is a talented quilter, upcycler and master of ephemera besides just being a lot of fun!

Come meet my friends and check out Cheri's cool wagon and more at our first sale this weekend -

Me...on t.v.!

Whitney suggested I give a preview of my own favorite pieces.  I so appreciate her feedback and respect her opinion so I plan to post several of my favorite items in the next couple of days as we count down to sale weekend.

Until then I am posting my home as it was featured on a special segment on Channel 13 News a year ago.   Just a note:  I did not paint the dandelion on the bathroom wall (it is from Wall Words) but I appreciate the kind words, and the shop is not the home of our electrical business - it is actually where our serendip-i-ty sale will be held! A couple misunderstandings but not a big deal and a fun experience.

Now, imagine funky vintage furniture, plants and home accessories spilling from the door onto the porch and beyond and that is a fun visualization of what is to come at next weekends sale.

I hope to see you all, a week from tonight at the Grand Opening!!

Introducing my third friend...

Actually I can't say I know Sue well...but I do know and love her soap!

Sue's soap is handmade the old fashion way, using all natural ingredients such as goat's milk and coconut oil. Did you know store bought soap is mostly synthetic, and full of harsh detergents and chemicals even the ones claiming to be natural? In fact, most store bought soap you are using right now is a detergent bar, not soap. If you get out of the shower and your skin feels tight and itchy, there is a good chance you are using detergent on your skin.

Not only does Sue have soap but a wide array of all natural products such as body lotion and creams, shampoo, scrubs, facial products and even a men's shave kit.

My daughter has struggled with eczema since she was born and we are leery of putting anything on her skin. During a trip to Utah she tried the unscented body butter on her itchy skin and cracking toes and said it felt like her skin took a drink.

I am so happy to have Sue's products at our first sale. If you would like to learn more about Deep Creek Soap Crafters products please visit Sue's website at www.deepcreeksoap.com or just check them out in person in a couple weeks.

Drum roll please.....

I am so excited to announce that Whitney Asay of Petuniaz is the second featured artist and friend at our Grand Opening Sale at serendip-i-ty!
Look at those dimples! Whitney has gathered quite a following and it's no surprise - she is an incredibly talented artist and her enthusiasm is absolutely contagious.

Whitney has a fun and funky style.

This is just a sneak peak at Whitney's one of a kind treasures but you can see more at the Grand Opening Sale at serendip-i-ty - June 24, 25 and 26...and you can always follow Petuniaz on Facebook.

Thanks to all of you who have spread the word, friended us on Facebook, followed this blog, marked your calendars and invited your closest friends to our first sale. It is just the first of many magical days at serendip-i-ty.

We can hardly wait to see you!

Stocking up

I just returned from a fun and fruitful trip to Utah. Preparing for our Spring Sale and stocking up for the Fall Sale - this is the life!

Cheri heard about the Star Mill and what a wonderful find it was...
my heart skips a beat when I pull up to such a cool old building with vintage finds spilling out the front.

Thank you Daniel and Connie of Star Mill - you made our time so memorable. Hope to see you again soon.
